i want
to know about god,
which name
he would prefer to go by

i want to know
about the stairway
up to heaven,
and why sliding down
the bannister into hell
is much more fun

(think i tried to climb a step that wasn't there, think i might have died more than once)

I find it a bit disturbing, that several "Christians" have found their way to this poem to evangelize, ignoring others, because it mentioned God. Completely disregarding the poetic nature of said poem, and interpreting it to suit their aims.

well, it's a public forum, why are you disturbed by people being people? Christians are meant to evangelize, it's part of Christianity. what's disturbing about that, don't you know that about Christianity?

"Evangelism" is not part of Christianity, it is a part of a certain religions. Christ called on his disciples to be Christ like and thus draw others to Him.

WRONG. This link will provide you with 100 Bible passages that say otherwise.…

Here's a few, though (all from the New Testament, just to make it more obvious):

[But first, so we're clear, the definition of evangelism is: evangelism |iˈvanjəˌlizəm| noun: the spreading of the Christian gospel by public preaching or personal witness; There's also the Merriam Webster definition, which is: evan·ge·lism noun \i-ˈvan-jə-ˌli-zəm\ 1. the winning or revival of personal commitments to Christ; 2. militant or crusading zeal]

"And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation." Mark 16:15

"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." Matt. 28:19-20

"For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?" Romans 10: 10-17

"As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry." 2 Timothy: 4-5

"And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned." Mark 16: 15-16

I'm a Christian, but I agree, yes, that is a little bit...rude of them.
